Gas Transmission Pipeline Compliance Survey
October 21, 2018

Problem:
In order to comply with DOT PHMSA 49 CFR 195 regulations, Midstream Client needed a high consequence area (HCA) analysis performed on their pipeline system.  The results of the analysis determined their system had some “could affect” segments and therefore would need to comply with §195.452 Pipeline integrity management in high consequence areas.  The client was then tasked with developing an Integrity Management Plan and a section of that plan was to conduct a risk analysis on their system to comply with the code.
Approach and Solution:
Integrity EPC has resources with multiple years of experience within the pipeline integrity space.  Utilizing our key partner company, SSP Innovations, Integrity EPC was able to conduct an HCA analysis, risk analysis, and piece together a PHMSA compliant Integrity Management Plan for the client.

Execution:
Integrity EPC and key partner company SSP Innovations completed an initial High Consequence Area (HCA) analysis to determine if the Midstream Client had any “could affect” segments that might impact the surrounding areas in the event of a pipeline rupture.  Integrity EPC then drafted an Integrity Management Plan in order for the Client to comply with DOT PHMSA regulations and to better ensure the integrity of their system going forward.  This will also better protect the surrounding environment and people in close proximity to the pipeline system.  A risk analysis was also conducted to better prioritize pipeline segments for future assessments and preventive and mitigative measures.
Result:
Midstream Client is meeting the requirements of the DOT PHMSA 49 CFR 195 requirements.  The client now has an Integrity Management Plan to better manage their assets going forward and to better protect the surrounding people and environment. The project was delivered on schedule and on budget.  From one of the very first interactions, Client mentioned they knew they hired the “A” team.
